When you walk into the main office, it a nice entrance with beautiful light. The best part of the hotel is the staff. My room wasn't booked properly and there was only a smaller room available. The staff was very sorry and hurt by the mistake and offered to cut my room's cost in half. They were so helpful and concerned about this issue they gave me passes to the Olympic Club (which is next door). I do believe they give these out to everyone but it was still a nice gesture. The neighborhood was perfect, amazing streets that you can walk around for hours on. Beautiful shops and even an old fashioned theater with curtains that roll up when the show starts.
The rooms are little to no ventaliation. They do have fans in every room however if all the air in the room is hot, you're just blowing hot air (no pun intended). I had to keep my door open a majority of the time. The other thing to consider is that the bathrooms are not in the room. So if you don't mind that "dorm style" bathroom design, this might not be the hotel for you.
I'd never been to Seattle before, so didn't know much about what to expect from the location. It was perfect! More great places to eat and drink than we could get to in the time we were there, and a very pretty area generally. The staff were very friendly, the hotel is very beautifully decorated, the beds were comfortable, there wasn't too much noise at all, and everything seemed very clean. I would definitely stay again.
There was a bit of a hiccup with the booking, but luckily they had a bed for us anyway. Some may object to the shared bathroom facilities, but it wasn't a problem for me. Never had to wait, and they were kept very clean- it's part of it being an old building.
